Summer Classes

2021

Week-long classes throughout the summer for grades 2-7 in our outdoor classroom spaces. 

Class hours: 8:45am - 1pm

Registration Fee: $250/week (after HGF discount)*

Add on aftercare: 1pm-3:30pm 

(minimum enrollment required to run)

Registration Fee: $75/week

*All morning class registration fees reflect a $100 discount thanks to a generous campership donation from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.

 

Class Descriptions and Dates

Jewish Gardening and Wilderness Wonders - Join Marian Parker to explore the JCA garden and grounds.  Learn to tend and harvest the garden, and learn about sustainable gardening practices.  Explore the wetlands and trails right on our own JCA property, and participate in crafts, cooking and more. 

Dates:  Session 1 - July 12-16, and Session 6 August 16-20

Nurturing Your Neshama (spirit) - Join Felicia Sloin in nurturing our own spirits through yoga, dance, movement, and music.  Felicia is a certified Breathe For Change yoga instructor.  Through movement and music, students will be inspired and empowered to be their whole and brilliant selves in their lives, relationships, and communities.

Dates: Session 2 - July 19-23, and Session 3 - July 26-30

Baking - Join Sam Coates-Finke of Backyard Bread and explore the world of baking in our outdoor wood-fired oven. 

Dates: Session 4 - August 2-6, and Session 5 - August 9-13

The first Monday of each session is listed as the date of the session.  This is a limitation of signup genius.  You are registering for the whole week (Monday-Friday).  

Additional forms, including the option to add on afternoon care will be sent to you later, after your register for summer classes. 

Age and Ability Requirements for all participants
*Children entering 2nd grade through 7th grade will be welcome. 

*Children must be able to properly put on and wear a mask when instructed.
*Children must be able to maintain 6-foot spacing around other people and function without social and adult touch.
*Children must be able to participate outside all day but for bathroom breaks. (We will have access to indoor spaces during inclement weather and for limited cooling breaks). 

All students and staff will be required to complete a daily online covid screening before arrival at the JCA.
